Clean-room, pure Rust
No Adobe code, no Electron, and in FilmCraft and EffectCraft not even FFmpeg. The codecs, PSD reader and RAW decoders are written from public specifications.

ArtCraft is a creative software project by the team behind storytold on GitHub. It makes ArtCraft, an AI image and video studio, and the Crafting Apps: free, open-source, clean-room rewrites of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Acrobat, After Effects, InDesign, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pro Tools, AutoCAD and Figma, all in pure Rust.
Is the ArtCraft suite really free?

Yes. Every Crafting App is dual-licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0, with no subscription, account or telemetry. You can download the installers, run them in a browser, or build them from source.
Who made ArtCraft?

ArtCraft was founded by engineer and filmmaker Brandon Thomas (GitHub: echelon), who previously founded Storyteller.ai and FakeYou. The apps are developed in the open with many community contributors under github.com/storytold, and the official site is getartcraft.com.
Is ArtCraft an Adobe product?

No. The Crafting Apps are independent clean-room reimplementations. They copy the familiar workflow, menus and shortcuts, not Adobe's code, and they are not affiliated with Adobe.
Can I use the ArtCraft apps online without installing?

Yes. Every app compiles to WebAssembly. This site hosts the official web builds, so you can open PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft and the others in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Your files never leave your device.
